Our Team
Chhewang N.Lama - Founder Director
With his cross-cultural & International management experience Chhewang is the driving force behind the Responsible Treks initiative.
Chhewang originated from Nyinba Valley, in the Humla region of the remote Western Nepal, where the people are of Tibetan origin. Chhewang believes this rich cultural heritage is what links him with his passion for the mountains. As a young man Chhewang studied hard knowing that the future would take him much further than his small mountain town. After grade 3 he moved to Kathmandu for further studies and then gained his degree in business from a top Indian college.
He speaks Nyinba, Tibetan, Nepali, Hindi and English fluently; along with the ability to converse in a number of locally spoken Nepali dialects. Chhewang has worked in the tourism industry for over 6 years & is now the founder of Responsible Treks. To this day Chhewang remains inspired by the magic of the mountains and its people; he is passionate about both his work & sharing the amazing experiences of Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim & Bhutan with others.
Chhewang believes that it is his extensive trek-leading and operating experience, along with a close relationship and commitment to his communities that gives responsible treks its unique signature.
