Since the inception of Responsible Treks, we have focused on integrating responsible and sustainable tourism practices into our company ethos. By embracing responsible tourism, we have been able to minimize the environmental impact of tourism while maximizing employment and income opportunities for local communities.
Our mission, “Travel & Discover,” is to explore in a way that conserves the areas we visit and brings positive change to local populations.
Before the devastating Gorkha Earthquake on April 25, 2015, our efforts were solely focused on tourism. In response to the disaster, we shifted our focus to delivering relief to remote mountain communities. Although our efforts were modest, they quickly made a significant impact on the lives of many victims. However, this experience highlighted Nepal’s lack of preparedness for such tragedies.
In light of this, we established Responsible Foundation Nepal — a foundation dedicated to aiding in the rebuilding and supporting the long-term development of communities across the country. Moving forward, every trip booked through Responsible Treks will contribute to educating and empowering the people of the remote Himalayas. We train and develop local guides, creating sustainable employment opportunities in remote mountain regions.
