Simikot to Kailash via Humla
Explore the Sacred Path: Simikot to Kailash trek via Humla and Kyirong, Tibet, is most commonly accessed through Lhasa and Kyirong, but at Responsible Treks, we believe the journey is just as important as the destination. That’s why we take pride in guiding our global travelers through the lesser-known yet stunningly beautiful region of Humla in far-western Nepal, where natural beauty, cultural richness, and peaceful landscapes still thrive untouched.
The best time to visit Mt. Kailash in Tibet is from May to September — a perfect window that also helps promote tourism in Nepal during the traditional off-season. Our signature Simikot–Kailash Trek–Kyirong trek begins in Nepal’s Humla District — one of the most remote and awe-inspiring areas in the Himalayas. This route leads you into the heart of the Kailash Mandala, following ancient pilgrimage trails and historic trade routes that few modern travelers get to experience.
To ensure proper acclimatization before entering the Tibetan Plateau, we highly recommend spending a week trekking through Upper Humla and the mystical Limi Valley. This not only helps adjust to the altitude but also offers a deeper immersion into the cultural and natural treasures of this sacred landscape. Since the pandemic, the Chinese government has reopened this route, and we encourage adventurous and spiritually inclined travelers to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
